History of JIBC

 1989 JIBC starts with 38 charter members

 1990 First annual family retreat

 1991 Purchase of land in Tigard. Beginning of church plant in Tacoma, WA.

 1992 "Agape House" becomes church office.

 1993 Rev. Takeuchi becomes pastor of Tacoma Mission.

 1994 Creation of New Church Building Committee.

 1995 Start of church building with help from volunteer builders from Texas 

               and Arkansas. Start of the annual Japan mission trips.

 1996 Completion of new JIBC building and ceremony.

 1997 "Vision 500" seminar by Rev. Ariga.

 1998 Ordination of Rev. Shinoda and Rev. Nishio.

 1999 Start of English services.

 2000 Start of fund-raising for Mikiko memorial building.

 2001 Mikiko Kitajima Memorial Building completed.

 2002 Rev. Kenji Yokoy comes on staff as associate pastor of English ministry.

              Kohituji Preschool starts.

 2003 JIBC Bible Seminars start.

 2004 First service of the Eugene Japanese Baptist Church. 15 year

              anniversary of JIBC.

 

    2004 Rev. Tsutomu Yaso (Discipleship), Rev. Mitch Yokoi (Worship) come on

               staff as associate pastors.
